    OUR WORK
Shifting the Power Capacity building Programs
Our programs confront the different power pockets that discriminate, alienate and dis-empower women and local communities from actively engaging and influencing for equitable and ecologically adaptive food systems. The programs premise women and local communities diverse knowledge and practices to shape narratives on well-being and well ness that is derived from access to diverse and nutritious foods and healthy food growing systems. In so doing we empower local communities and women to be primal architects of solutions that seek to protect, promote and preserve Uganda/ African seeds and foods and in so doing promoting food security and sovereignty.

Movement building for just and equitable food systems
Uganda is a culturally diverse country. The diversities of the nation speak to the many unique blends, ethos, knowledge, experiences, norms, practices and being. We aim to tap into this blend of being to tap into the power of our differences in enriching a strong movement powered by and for the people.

    Gardening
This is done in two ways; as school projects to promote and nurture promotion of local food varieties production among young people championed by girls and 2) and community gardening. We do Capacity building programmes for girls and women’s leadership that tailored around gardening for both participating schools and communities. Programmes on positive female identity building, confidence building leadership. We introduce gardening clubs in schools and community gardens so as to increase access to healthy foods and promote healthy eating habits. We hope to introduce gardening competitions to spur motivation and creativity in regard to utilising space and re-introduction of rare/ near extinct local food varieties.

    OUR WORK
Creation of local seed food Banks
Seeds are the life of all foods, without seeds, access to and food availability is uncertain. Seed banks and seed sharing foster ubuntu and revive shared community values and development around food. The seed banks are safety nets for ensuring seeds are readily available especially as we confront climate change effects. Local seeds are more resistant to harsh climate, more disease tolerant and contribute to soil conservation. We envision establishment of seed banks and in communities of operation.
